Where the P1S sits in the Bambu Lab range

The P1S is the enclosed workhorse of the P Series: a CoreXY machine with a factory-sealed chamber, which is what separates it from the open-frame printers in the range. The enclosure is not a cosmetic difference — it holds heat around the part, so ABS, ASA and other engineering filaments print without the warping and layer splitting that an open frame gives you.

It is also still a current model. Bambu Lab has confirmed that the launch of the P2S does not mark the end of the P1S, which continues to be manufactured and sold alongside it. (The model that did reach end of life is the P1P, the open-frame original, in February 2026.) So this is a genuine choice between two current machines rather than a discontinued model being cleared out.

The current models, side by side

Model Form What marks it out Best for
Bambu Lab P1S Enclosed CoreXY, 256 × 256 × 256 mm All-metal 300 °C hot end, 20,000 mm/s² acceleration, AMS multi-colour up to 16 colours, built-in camera The value enclosed printer — everyday engineering filament work, workshops and print-farm duty
Bambu Lab P2S Enclosed CoreXY, same 256 mm cube Second-generation platform: hardened steel extruder and nozzle, new touchscreen and UI, AMS 2 Pro with filament drying When you want the newer platform, abrasive-filament capability and filament drying
Bambu Lab X2D Enclosed, dual nozzle, 65 °C heated chamber Two nozzles and a 300 °C hot end, with an actively heated chamber Engineering materials and multi-material work, including support-interface printing
Bambu Lab A1 Mini Open frame, 180 × 180 × 180 mm Plug-and-play with full auto calibration and AMS Lite Small parts, PLA and PETG, tightest budget and bench space
CreatBot D600 Pro 2 / D1000 Large-format industrial frames, up to 1000 mm cube Heated chambers and industrial motion systems Anything that does not fit a 256 mm cube — jigs, moulds, full-scale prototypes

One point worth knowing if you are choosing between the two P Series machines: the P1S cannot be converted into a P2S. The P2S is a redesign of the frame, mainboard, toolhead, screen and air circulation rather than a set of upgrades, which is Bambu Lab’s own description. Choose the platform you want at the point of purchase. The full range is on our Bambu Lab brand page.

Frequently asked questions

Is the P1S being discontinued?

No. Bambu Lab has stated that the P1S remains in the range and fully supported alongside the newer P2S. The open-frame P1P is the model that reached end of life, in February 2026.

What is the difference between the P1S and the P2S?

Both are enclosed CoreXY printers with the same 256 mm build volume. The P2S is a second-generation redesign: hardened steel extruder and nozzle, a new touchscreen and user interface, and AMS 2 Pro with filament drying. The P1S stays in the range as the more affordable enclosed machine.

Can it print ABS and ASA?

Yes — that is the point of the enclosure. Holding heat around the part is what keeps those materials from warping, and it is the main reason to choose the P1S over an open-frame printer.

How many colours can it print?

Up to four with one AMS, and up to 16 by stacking four AMS units. Multi-colour printing requires the AMS; it is not built into the toolhead.

Does it need assembly, and how long does setup take?

It works out of the box — around 15 minutes to be printing, with automatic bed levelling and vibration compensation done by the machine.

Can it print carbon-fibre or abrasive filaments?

Not as its best use. Abrasive filaments want a hardened steel nozzle and extruder, which is what the P2S brings; the P1S ships with a stainless steel hot end suited to standard and engineering filaments.

How much is the Bambu Lab P1S in Malaysia?

We quote with current pricing rather than a fixed web price, since bundles change with the AMS and the accessories you need. Tell us what you want to print and we will quote against it.
