Cut and engrave wood, clear acrylic, leather, and more, with materials up to 20 mm¹ thick in a single pass.

No thermal paper. No test shots. No manual tuning. R1 aligns the optical path automatically — a first for a laser cutter.

Cameras, lasers, and encoders work together to place every cut exactly where you set it.

Reach speeds up to 1000 mm/s and finish jobs nearly 3× faster, while keeping fine details sharp.²

Add risers for taller pieces, a rotary for round objects, longer-focus lenses for thicker stock, and a conveyor³ for boards up to 3 meters long.

Crossflow ventilation drives air directly through the chamber, clearing smoke quickly and evenly from the work area.
Overview
CO₂ laser. Wood to glass. Tabletop decor to furniture.
Laser on — board falls. Cut clean in a single pass, leaving the material's natural character intact. Bambu motion control keeps every run precise and consistent. This is Bambu Lab R1. Serious CO₂ laser capability, made easier to work with.

Powered by a 55W CO₂ laser, R1 works across a wide range of materials — from wood and acrylic to glass, leather, fabric, and more — each bringing its own character to the piece.

SlateCut & engrave: wood and plywood, acrylic (including clear acrylic), leather, fabric, paper, EVA foam, shell. Engrave only: coated metal, glass, ceramic.

The 55W CO₂ laser cuts up to 18 mm black walnut plywood and 20 mm acrylic¹ in a single pass — fast, clean, and without the extra passes that slow you down.
With the auto-feed conveyor³, R1 handles material up to 3 meters long. Pass-through feeding and deep cutting turn full-length panels into tables, shelving and furniture.

This is TriSense. What you mark is what you cut.
From curved cups and spheres to uneven surfaces. Height sensing follows every rise and fall to keep the engraving sharp and consistent across the entire surface.⁴
R1 keeps surface measurement accurate even on transparent materials like glass and clear acrylic, so engraving stays precisely placed.
The Toolhead Camera pinpoints small objects and places fine detail exactly where you want it.
Cut around a printed design, trim a sticker, or follow a drawn outline. The Toolhead Camera traces the edge and keeps the cut precisely on path.
The same motion control and intelligent algorithms behind Bambu Lab printers now power R1 — bringing faster movement, finer detail, and more precise cuts.
When the toolhead changes direction, a split-second shake can ripple the line that follows. R1's vibration compensation cancels it out, keeping lines crisp right out of the turn — the same technology as in our 3D printers.
Higher speeds usually mean shallower engraving. R1 compensates as it moves, keeping engraving depth consistent at up to 1,000 mm/s — while completing the same job nearly 3× as fast.²
Mechanical accuracy can drift with use. The Vision Encoder⁵ corrects for it, keeping absolute motion accuracy within 0.1 mm across the full work area. Draw 300 mm. Cut 300 mm.
Setup
R1 measures the beam, detects the misalignment, and corrects the optical path automatically — in just one minute.
R1 puts a touchscreen right on the machine. Follow every job in real time, watch the optical path calibrate, and check the machine's health status — all without a computer.

R1 recognizes Bambu Lab material automatically and applies the right power and speed, so you can skip test grids and manual parameter setup.²
Safety
Most lasers rely on a single exhaust fan. R1 brings fresh air in from one side and exhausts smoke from the other, creating a steady crossflow through the entire chamber.

Air sweeps continuously across the work area toward the exhaust, reducing dead zones where smoke can collect and helping keep the chamber clear as you cut.
Built for R1, E1 Pro⁶ connects directly to R1's exhaust outlet and pulls smoke out at the source. Multiple filter layers, with activated carbon, catch smoke and fine particles and reduce odors.

R1 is Class 1 under IEC 60825-1 in standard enclosed use. Laser radiation stays contained inside the enclosure, so no safety goggles or dedicated laser room are needed.⁷

Laser work means heat. R1 layers multiple safeguards around every job, detecting potential issues early and responding quickly when needed.

Ecosystem
Same MakerWorld. Same Bambu account. Same familiar workflow. R1 fits right into the Bambu ecosystem, so there's less to learn and more you can start making right away.

R1 delivers the same working area as a typical CO₂ laser while taking up about a third less space.⁹ Measured 940 × 560 × 200 mm and 33.5 kg — it sits on a desk, not in a workshop of its own.
Upgrades
Add the setup you need for taller objects, round pieces, thicker stock, and extra-long boards.³

Raises R1 to create clearance for taller objects. Also required for the Conveyor and Rotary.

Automatically feeds long stock through R1, letting you cut and engrave boards up to 3 meters long.

Rotates round objects for full 360° engraving on bottles, bowls, cups, and more. Requires the Riser Base.

Greater depth of focus for cleaner cuts through thicker materials — up to 20 mm with the long-focus lens.
All accessories are sold separately — ask us for pricing and availability.

FAQ
Focal length changes the spot size and the effective depth of field:
Short (S) — standard. Smallest spot, best fine-detail engraving.
Medium (M). A balance of precision, speed and cutting capability.
Long (L). Longest depth of field, best for cutting thicker material — up to 20 mm acrylic.
Optical path calibration is recommended when you first set the machine up, after moving or heavy vibration, after replacing the laser tube or a lens, or whenever cut and engrave quality noticeably degrades. On R1 the machine measures the beam, detects the misalignment and corrects the path automatically — it takes about a minute and you do not adjust anything by hand.

Choose R1 when you cut clear acrylic, glass or thicker stock and want a dedicated laser cutter. Choose an H2 series machine when you want one machine that also 3D prints.
Two cases to handle with care:
1. Highly reflective materials. Do not process uncoated or bare metal — it can damage the machine or cause injury. Coated metal can be engraved.
2. Any material that releases harmful gases, such as PVC and other chlorinated plastics. Always keep the smoke exhaust path clear, keep the surrounding area well ventilated, and follow local environmental rules on harmful gas emissions.
We recommend the Bambu Lab E1 Pro Purifier. It links with the R1 and filters the smoke and particles a laser job produces through particle filter cotton, high-performance filters and high-iodine-value activated carbon. The Bambu Lab Smoke Purifier is structurally compatible too, but it has no smart function — it is controlled manually with its own power switch and speed knob.
