xTool F2 — questions and answers

What's the difference between F2 and F1?

F2 is a major upgrade over F1: 15W diode + 5W IR against 10W + 2W; a built-in 50MP camera (F1 has none) with autofocus, visual alignment, live preview, one-click auto-fill and batch processing; up to 6,000 mm/s against 4,000 mm/s; and curved-surface engraving, relief and batch features the F1 does not have. For business users the F2 is the smarter buy; a beginner on a tight budget is still well served by the F1.

How does the F2 compare to other portable lasers?

More power (15W diode + 5W IR) makes it an all-rounder; a 50MP camera with autofocus solves manual focus and misalignment; up to 6,000 mm/s gives real batch throughput; and one-click auto-fill plus panoramic preview with the Slide Extension keep larger jobs efficient. It also slots into the wider xTool ecosystem of rotary attachments, extensions and purifiers.

Is the F2 compatible with F1 accessories?

Yes — with all F1 accessories except the rolling hard case: the RA3 and RA2 Pro rotary (up to 120 mm diameter), the F1 Slide Extension (115 × 400 mm, conveyor-style batch engraving), the pedal or button switch, and the desktop air purifier and its replacement filter.

What's the working area and maximum workpiece height?

Standard working area is 115 × 115 mm, ideal for most small items. With the Slide Extension it becomes 115 × 400 mm for batch runs and long pieces. Maximum workpiece height is up to 120 mm — slightly taller than the F1.

Which metals can the F2 process?

The 5W IR (1064 nm) laser is designed for metal marking and engraving on most metals: stainless steel, aluminium, copper, brass, titanium alloys, plated metals, anodised aluminium, gold, silver and platinum. It marks metal — it does not cut it.

What software does the F2 use?

xTool Studio — design, layout, material parameters and machine control in one beginner-friendly app for Windows and macOS. The F2 works exclusively with xTool Studio; third-party laser software is not supported.
