You do not need to own a 3D scanner to get a 3D scan. If you need a physical object digitised, send it to us — or bring it to our Kuala Lumpur showroom — and we will return accurate 3D data in the format your project needs, with your original part back in your hands. This page walks through the whole process, including how to pack and ship a part safely.
Start with a few photos of the object from different angles, plus the basics: approximate size, material, and how shiny, dark or transparent the surface is. The most useful line you can add is what you need the data for — printing, redesign, inspection, archiving or something else — because that single answer decides how the job is scanned and how far the processing should go.
Scanning is quoted per part, not off a price list, because the effort depends on size, surface and the deliverable. You get the figure before any work starts, along with the method we recommend and the formats we will deliver. The factors behind a quote are set out on the service pricing page, and if the job changes shape mid-way we come back to you before doing extra work.
Two routes, whichever suits the object and the deadline:
One thing to check before packing: does the object actually need to travel? Large machinery, installed equipment and awkward assemblies are a different conversation — tell us about the object and we can scan it on site — see on-site 3D scanning across Malaysia.

Your part is scanned on metrology-grade Shining 3D equipment matched to its size and surface, then the data is cleaned, aligned and meshed. Where your quote includes it, the scan is converted to CAD surfaces or processed into an inspection report. You do not need to be present for any of this, and most jobs move through without a single question — if something does need deciding, we call.

The finished data is delivered electronically, in the formats agreed at quoting, and your original part is shipped back. What each file type is for — and how to choose between them — is explained on what you receive from a 3D scanning service.

How long does a scan take?
Turnaround depends on the size of the object and the processing the job needs, and we confirm the timing with your quote before you send anything.
I do not know which file format I need.
Describe what you want to do with the model and we will deliver the format that gets you there. The deliverables guide is a good quick reference.
What if the part is fragile or valuable?
Say so when you first contact us. Packing, handling and turnaround can all be adjusted for delicate or one-of-a-kind objects.
