Blazing Fast, Industrial-Grade SLA

The Form 4 is the fastest professional resin 3D printer Formlabs has built — powered by Low Force Display (LFD) technology, with 5.25 litres of build volume and a workflow so simple anyone can learn it in 15 minutes.

Speed That Changes Workflows

  • Most prints in under 2 hours at 100 µm layers — against 3h37m for a benchmark FDM and 10h47m for the Form 3+ *
  • Same time for one part or a full plate — print time is nearly independent of how many parts you load
  • Up to 100 mm/hour maximum print speed; 40 mm/hour average across all materials
  • 3× productivity in prototyping — iteration moves from overnight to within the hour

A Complete Ecosystem, Not Just a Printer

  • Form 4 printer — MSLA with Low Force Display (LFD) engine, 405 nm, 50 µm pixel
  • Form Wash automates part cleaning; Form Cure delivers precision post-curing for peak material properties
  • PreForm software — one-click print, auto-orientation, auto-supports and live printability checks
  • Dashboard — fleet management, remote monitoring and print timelapses from the 5 MP camera

Low Force Display™ (LFD) Technology

At the heart of the Form 4 is a new print engine. The Backlight Unit projects a uniform, ultra-high-power light field using 60 LEDs and a collimating lens array — 405 nm at 16 mW/cm² delivered to the cure plane. Resin cures quickly and precisely, with identical quality anywhere on the build platform.

  • Light Processing Unit 4 (LPU 4), Release Texture and a flexible-film resin tank work together to cut peel forces
  • Z-axis force sensor continuously optimises print quality and speed for the part geometry
  • Light-touch supports release cleanly by hand — less post-processing, fewer marks
  • High-speed automatic resin handling with infrared-sensed conduction heating, 25–45 °C per material

Lower peel forces and precise light delivery are what make Form 4 prints both fast and flawless — whether it's part number one or a full plate of thirty.

Get More Done, In Less Time

Factory-calibrated out of the box, monitored remotely, and validated material by material — the reliability that keeps a resin printer busy instead of benched.

From the official Form 4 film — a finished print, ready minutes after the last layer.

Blazing Fast, Every Print

Most prints finish in under 2 hours — and print time barely changes whether you load one part or a full build of many.

Factory Calibrated

Every Form 4 ships factory-calibrated with resin level sensing and automatic resin dispensing — unbox, load a cartridge, print.

Remote Monitoring

Watch prints from anywhere via Dashboard, with the integrated 5 MP camera capturing timelapses of every job — on one printer or a whole farm.

Built Around the Light Engine

A fly-through of the LFD engine — backlight unit, processing unit and release texture, engineered as one optical system.

So Intuitive, Anyone Learns in 15 Minutes

The Form 4 replaced specialist resin craft with a four-step workflow: import and prepare, load and print, remove–wash–cure, then finish. Every step is automated where it counts.

  • Prepare: smart auto-orientation, advanced support generation and live printability checks in PreForm
  • Print: validated print settings per material, no-hassle cartridges and tanks, automatic resin dispensing
  • Post-process: quick-release part removal with Form Wash cleaning and Form Cure post-curing
  • Finish: light-touch supports come away quickly and cleanly — optional sanding, coating or painting

One-click print, adaptive layer thickness and remote print start — a new operator is productive on day one, not week three.
